LOOK AT MY LIFE NOW- ROTFL
You see in this life eh, if it was just by 'dreaming big' that we become rich, influential, and fulfilled, who is Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Mark Zuckerberg, or even our own Dangote?
Well, growing up, I had dreams- a whole lot of dreams to last me for a life time. I didn't know what to do with the dreams but I never stopped dreaming. I lived in my dreams more than I did in the real world. It was bliss and comforting. I was always alone so I loved it. Now, I'm not referring to "a series of thoughts or images, that occurs in a person's mind" during sleep, I am actually talking about "a cherished aspiration, ambition or fantasy" kind of dream that occurs not necessarily during sleep. The watch word here is "FANTASY"
I wanted to be a Philanthropist, a Lawyer, an Activist, and a Defender of the Universe- LOL. I had big dreams where I would be controlling conglomerate of businesses; travel the world in first class; marry a tall, handsome, rich and influential man. Basking in the euphoria of clean fresh air of red roses oozing from the warm-water-bathtub, I would lay with a class of Chateau Lafite, thinking and calculating on how to win the next big deal. Those were my dreams and more.
I believed more in Providence to make my dream a reality and nothing else. I only knew I had to get a degree. I had this mentality that education was the only price I needed to pay to be able to 'make it big in life'. IT WAS A SCAM! A big one at that. Well not now, maybe back in the days, when ordinary O'level certificate can get you a good and reasonable paying job.
Dreaming big is not the problem. What you do after jerking up from that fantasy world of yours makes the difference. What skills are you willing to acquire to help you in actualizing your dreams? What sacrifices or price are you willing to pay? What habits are you willing to imbibe or drop in other to achieve your goals. What about going the extra miles? Are you willing to fail, fail and probably fail again?
Don't just dream, because if wishes were horses, I'd be the Queen of England! LOL
